With a new executive director, new office space, and heightened energy, Headwaters RC&D approached us with the intriguing task of developing a refreshed look and creating a more intuitive message for their growing brand. The organization offers a broad spectrum of services. Its Small Business Development Center guides new businesses to success, while its Natural Resource programs reduce fuels on fire-prone land. Such diversity raised the question of why one roof housed so many services. Although each program is unique, many blend in a recipe of resources and assistance for launching great ideas. That mix is a valuable resource for Southwest Montana ‚ all of it. The Headwaters Economic Development Region is the state’s largest, spanning eight counties and 17,486 square miles.
VauthierFerguson listened to Who, What and Why we are Headwaters. They not only captured the essence of our organization, they helped us recognize old assets and new strengths.
We approached this challenge with small town, long streets as a guiding theme. We developed ideas shaped around grassroots energy, neighbors helping neighbors and the beneficial blend of services with one primary idea: Success Begins Somewhere. Afterall, a river’s meandering path begins at its headwaters, an idea from which the strapline ‘Start Here’ was born.
We created a new mark: a forward-motion start symbol with vibrant colors representing the brand’s many offerings. A new anthem film simplifies the brand’s message and invites energy and awareness from viewers. A Website overhaul focuses on avenues for discovering the brand’s offering with a high level of connectivity. The new presence, teamed and executed with a host of collateral material, has made a sizeable splash in the communities Headwaters serves and among the organization’s colleagues.
